The Formation Committee has for its basic purpose to assist all parishioners in attaining the level of Christian maturity and commitment needed to lead full Christian lives. Efforts in parish catechesis are intended to provide integrated holistic formation at all levels of Christian development. Formation in the parish includes: Adult Formation Ministry provides a variety of programs and activities that assist adult parishioners in developing a living, conscious, and active faith, as individuals and as a Christian Community. Baptism Preparation Program prepares parents of children to be baptized for the reception of the Sacrament of Baptism and supports them in their responsibility for Christian parenting. Trained Lead Couples who facilitate the two sessions with the new parents provide this ministry. These meetings are held in the Rectory Basement or in the Steuerle Adult Spirituality Center. There is a third session, which is a practice session in church for the baptisms in context of our Sunday liturgies. Dates for Baptisms are scheduled quarterly per year. Book Discussion Group SFA Book Club comes together on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. It gives members an opportunity to discuss and share personal insight of the relevant materials chosen, whether it be a book of a movie. Elementary Faith Development Program addresses the catechetical needs of our elementary children grades 1-8 not enrolled in Catholic schools. Classes for grades 1-8 are held on Sunday mornings from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. Highland Five Lenten Mission is a five-part mission rotating between the five Catholic parishes in the Highlands featuring national speakers addressing ways to enhance our spiritual and faith life. St. Francis, St. Agnes, St. Brigid, St. James and St. Raphael sponsor the mission. Marriage Preparation Program is a parishioner-oriented process in preparing engaged couples for married life. Married couples from the parish are the "enablers" during the months prior to an engaged couple marrying. The married couples are trained in working with engaged couples to address all facets of married life. Men's Bible Study Group Laymen, whose lives have been touched by Christ, meeting to pray, read and discuss the Holy Scriptures, and mutual support every Saturday morning from 7:15 - 8:15 a.m. Participants testify to their Catholic faith, deepening and increasing awareness of God's presence in their personal lives. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a process of prayer, study and faith-sharing to assist adults in their faith journey in becoming full members of the Catholic Church. Catholics who wish to renew their own faith are always welcome. Sacramental Preparation Program prepares children for the reception of the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation. The children in the school program as well as the children in the parish Religious Education Program work together on activities that help prepare them for the sacraments. Small Christian Communities An opportunity to respond to the call to renew ourselves in the 21st Century. Small Christian communities, continuing beyond Renew 2000, meet to share prayer and scripture, their faith journey, and to extend themselves in outreach to others in need. Invitation to participate is welcome at any time. Lectionary-based materials available through the SFA Adult Formation Office. Wild Men's Spirituality Group meets every other Friday morning from 6:00-7:15 a.m. in the Adult Spirituality Center. The groups meet together for prayer, reflection, mutual support and men's spirituality.
