Our Parish Council
Hank Schmidt graduated from SFA, St. Xavier H.S., Bellarmine University and Spalding University. He has been married to Mary Jane Barber from Springfield, KY for almost 44 years. They have three children John, David and Keith and seven grandchildren. Hank is a Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer and works for Barber Cabinet Company. Previously Hank served as the Dean of Student Affairs at then Bellarmine College from 1966 to 1974. Hank and Mary are involved in the Marriage Encounter Movement in the Archdiocese of Louisville. They serve SFA as Ministers of the Word and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. Hank currently serves on the Administration Committee and the Parish Council.
Bruce White and his wife, Shannon have been members of St. Francis of Assisi parish for twelve years and their children attend St. Francis of Assisi School. Bruce's involvement with the parish has included, the St. Francis of Assisi School Board, Parish Council, annual school fundraiser, ushering at Sunday Mass and coaching various teams for the school's sports program. He and his family love the sense of community they've found at St. Francis of Assisi and are fortunate to have made many lasting friendships with other member of the parish.

Caroline Donnelly has been a member of St. Francis of Assisi since 1994. Both of her children attended St. Francis School. She has a business degree from Indiana University and a Masters of Teaching from Bellarmine. She currently teaches the 3rd grade at St. Agnes.

Susie Winters, married to Joe for 41 years, has five children and six grandchildren. She retired from the Housing Partnership Inc. where she worked one on one and also taught classes on money management. In this capacity she also had the opportunity to work with many refugee families. she has been a member of St. Francis of Assisi for 23 years. Quote from one of her children the first time thier family attended mass at St. Franish "Now I know what it feels like to go to Mass."
Susan Haynes grew up attending Holy Trinity parish. After trying to escape Louisville by leaving for college and then moving to several other states, she returned with a vow to find her home as an adult. She joined SFA in 2001, realizing the Highlands is the place to be. She and her husband, Rob, were married at SFA in 2007.
Susan graduated from the University of Notre Dame, then spent a year in the Holy Cross Associate program as a post-graduate volunteer. She is an occupational therapist with CCS-Ky, specializing in community reintegration for adults with acquired brain injury. At SFA, Susan has served as a lector and Eucharistic minister, and as a member of the Art & Environment and Ecological Stewardship Committees. She completed JustFaith in 2008-2009, reinforcing her passion for social justice. Susan's name was drawn from the hat for Parish Council in 2009.
Lou Lindsey and his wife Terry have been members of St. Frances since moving to Alfresco Pl. 13 years ago. Born and raised Methodist, Lou felt the calling to convert to Catholicism within months of living in the neighborhood. Additionally, since they were starting their young family, they felt drawn to the school and the overall community of SFA. Daughter Jessica was baptized at SFA and attended school there. She is now at Assumption. Son Jack was also baptized at SFA and, is a 7th grader at the school.
Lou has participated in RCIA, SFA Habitat for Humanity, served as past president of the Booster club, member of your parish council and is active in organizing activities to stimulate the overall involvement of and camaraderie of its members and community.

Father Lou Meiman, Pastor. A native of Louisville, Fr Lou came to St Francis from the West End where he was pastor at Immaculate Heart of Mary and Christ the King Parishes. He is long time chaplain to the Catholic Newman community at the University of Louisville, as well as St Xavier High School. He did theology studies at the Catholic University of Louvain, in Belgium, but if you ask him where he went to school (like any other Louisvillian) he'll name his high school, Trinity.
Paula Watkins, School Principal. Paula Watkins has been Principal at SFA for 5 years. She is originally from Louisville and a graduate of St. Bernard Elementary School and Assumption High School. She has a BA in Exceptional Child Education and a MA in Educational Administration from Western Kentucky University. Paula has been married to her husband, Neil, for 13 years. They have two children, Olivia is 8 and Luke is 3. Paula and her family are members of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and enjoy spending time with family and friends.
