Parent Volunteer Organization

Purpose

To provide a framework that enables parents to support and share in the intellectual and spiritual education of the children at Saint Francis of Assisi.

Committees & Objectives

LEGISLATIVE: To provide a way of communicating legislative information that affects the school and the children by recruiting membership in the KY League for Educational Alternatives (KLEA).

RESOURCE: To act as a resource for the school administrators and teachers by soliciting and organizing volunteers for school projects.

NEWCOMER: To provide a support system for new school families by establishing a “buddy network” which will pair current families with new families to provide information, support and friendship.

TEACHER APPRECIATION: To show appreciation for the school staff and volunteers.

PROGRAM: To discuss topics of interest by parents through social gatherings and speakers.

COMMUNICATION: To promote communication between parents and the school by issuing a bi-monthly newsletter.

SOUNDING BOARD: To provide a form for parents to use when expressing an idea, suggestion or concern and then channel it to the appropriate party, communicate through newsletter, or take other actions as necessary.

GROCERY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM: To provide assistance to the school in organizing and implementing grocery certificate program.

SPIRITUALITY: To provide a means to express and enhance our spirituality through reading, activities and fellowship.

HEALTH & SAFETY: To implement programs such as annual health screenings and safety awareness programs for the children.
