The Worship Committee is to oversee and coordinate all forms of parish worship, and to support and further the faith development of the community through liturgical and sacramental celebrations. To always work toward full, active and conscious participation by all as directed by Vatican II's Constitution on Sacred Liturgy.
Altar Servers are to assist the priest during mass and other church services. Any child in the parish in grades 5 and above who wishes to take an active part in the liturgy, may become a server. Training class is provided to new servers at the beginning of the school year. Schedules are announced in the bulletin each week and mailed directly to each child. Adults may also take part in this ministry. Art/Environment Committee works to enhance the liturgies by creating a prayerful, warm, and welcoming worship space. The colors and symbols are used in accordance with the liturgical seasons. This committee could use your time, talents and treasures in any of the following capacities:
Music Committee meets monthly to plan parish music. Parish Seasonal Choir Parishioners may join the Advent/Christmas Choir or the Lent/Easter Choir. Vocalists and instrumentalists welcome. Schola of St. Claire (women) sing twice a month. Rehearsals held Wednesday evenings. Traditional A Cappella music. Open by audition. There is a more thorough yearly church cleaning usually in November open to all parishioners. Eucharistic Adoration takes place each Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. following 8:30 morning mass) until 2:00 p.m. People are scheduled for 1/2 hour increments, and all parishioners are welcome. Eucharistic Breadbakers bake the special unleavened bread used at Sunday and holiday masses. Three times a year, we will be having communal baking of our Sunday Eucharistic bread in the parish hall kitchen. Gift Bearers are representatives from the assembly. They represent each of us as we present our gifts to God at the preparations of the gifts. Anyone may carry the gifts and present them to the priest. If you have a special occasion that you would like to remember by being gift bearers, please call in advance. Lectors are to assist in the celebration of the liturgy by proclaiming the Word of God in the Scripture readings. You should have a good, clear speaking voice and be able to be in front of others comfortably. After training,(during summer months) lectors are scheduled for a particular Mass on a rotation basis. This ministry is open to adults and high school students. Ministers of Hospitality helps facilitate a welcoming atmosphere before Sunday Liturgies by greeting the people coming to Mass at the doors of the church. People are scheduled for a particular church door on a monthly basis. This ministry is open to all parishioners and is especially conducive to family groups. Ministers of the Eucharist are to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion at mass. After receiving special training (during the summer months), the Ministers of the Eucharist are commissioned by the pastor. They are scheduled for a particular mass on a rotation basis. Ushers help greet those coming to Mass, assist in seating parishioners when the need arises, and facilitate the gathering of the collection. This ministry is open to all parishioners, or could be done as a family. Worship | Strategic Plan | Quarterly Newsletter | Contact Us Copyright ©2000-2004 Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi.
